As discussed before in our blog about the importance of cooking with kids, the most effective way of making kids understand how important it is to opt for healthy eating habits is to get them involved. It not only teaches them the art of cooking but also unleashes their creative side. There are several easy to make dishes that you can try with your kids.

Here, we’ve shared a recipe with Mayonnaise for those who love Mayo, i.e. Egg Mayonnaise Sandwiches, which is one of the best cooking ideas for kids as it is easy to make. So, without further ado, let’s get into it.

List of Ingredients

  • Bread slices (4)
  • Nutralite DoodhShakti Probiotic Butter Spread (1 tbsp)
  • Crushed black pepper (¼ tbsp)
  • Salt (very less)
  • Eggs (4)
  • Nutralite Veg Mayonnaise/ Tandoori Mayo (Based on your preference) (3-4 tbsp)
  • Mustard (1 tbsp)
  • Small onions (2)
  • Lemon juice (1 tbsp)
  • Red chili flakes (1 tbsp)
  • Dried herbs (1 tbsp)
  • Parsley (2-3 tbsp)
  • Finely crushed garlic clove (2)

Instructions

  • Step 1

Mother: Boil the eggs in a pressure cooker or pot for around 7 minutes and then let the pressure out slowly. Take an egg and show your kids how to peel it while talking about how easy it is so your kids have no other option, except to do it right.
Kid(s): You don’t want your kids to feel left out, right? So, make them peel the remaining eggs slowly.

  • Step 2

Mother: Take out the yolk part of each and every egg, and show your kids how to chop an egg into small, tiny pieces without creating a mess.
Kid(s): Make them chop the remaining eggs into tiny pieces along with pieces of yolks. (With a butter knife, ofcourse!)

  • Step 3

Mother: Chop the onions, and arrange all the spices and herbs in the right quantities right in front of your kids, including pepper, garlic, mustard, parsley, dried herbs, and chopped onions. Now, tell them what every spice and herb is called so they know what they’re doing.
Kid(s): They love to add spices and herbs, regardless of the dish you’re making. It makes them feel involved and triggers the chef in them. So, make them add the spices and herbs to the egg-yolk mix.

  • Step 4

Mother: Add lemon juice to the mix after mixing the ingredients mentioned in the previous step.
Kid(s): Kids love Mayo. It’s up to them as to what flavour they like. If they like Veg Mayo, then make them add Veg Mayo after taking the right amount in a bowl. If they like Tandoori Mayo, make them add Tandoori Mayo. • Step 5

Mother: Here’s a suggestion, to make it a little more fun. Don’t do anything now and watch your kids looking at you, wondering what the next step is, with curiosity in their eyes. Make them wait. Make them feel like it’s a prank.
Kid(s): The moment they start getting a little impatient and disappointed, surprise them with a wooden mixing tool, and make them mix everything in the bowl well.

  • Step 6

Mother: Now add red chilli flakes and a little bit of salt, as per taste.
Kid(s): Ask them to gather the bread slices and coat them with our healthy butter, one by one!

  • Step 7

Mother: Toast the bread slices in an oven for approximately 4 minutes at around 180-degree celsius.
Kid(s): Make them spread the egg Mayo mix on the bread slices evenly and pretend like this is the most important part of the recipe, so they give their best.

Now, serve the sandwiches to your kid on a plate with some Nutralite Veg Mayo or Nutralite Tandoori Mayo as a dipping sauce, and watch them devour each and every bite of it with a sense of pride and joy.

Cooking with your kids will help them properly opt for a healthy lifestyle faster and will also make them self-reliant. So, if you are really tired of watching your kids hogging on junk food every day, get them involved and cook easy to make dishes with them.
