How To Make A Vegetable Triple Decker Sandwich
Conceptually, sandwiches are simple to make and allow you to get creative with the ingredients. It’s hard to go wrong with a sandwich. But a triple-decker sandwich adds an additional layer of bread and filling. This does give you more freedom to explore additional ingredients, but it’s also important to get the proportions right. This one’s a simple veg sandwich recipe. Here’s how you can go about it.
Step 1: Prepare the Potato Filling
In a bowl, combine mashed potatoes, salt, half of the ground black peppercorns, red chili flakes, chopped green capsicum, and cheese spread. Mix everything together until it’s well combined.
Step 2: Assemble the Sandwich
Take a slice of brown bread and lightly butter one side. Spread the potato mixture evenly on the buttered side of the bread. Arrange a few onion rings on top, then sprinkle with a little salt and the remaining ground black peppercorns. Next, place a slice of white bread on top of the onion rings. Layer with a few cucumber and tomato slices, and sprinkle them with salt. Finally, add a few gherkin slices, top with another slice of brown bread (butter one side lightly), and gently press down on the sandwich.
Step 3: Grill the Sandwich
Heat up your sandwich grill or griddle. Butter the top slice of the sandwich. Place the sandwich on the hot grill, buttered side down. Cover the grill with a lid or a skillet to create a closed environment.
Step 4: Cook and Serve
Once you see nice grill marks on the bottom slice, it’s time to take it off! Carefully remove the sandwich from the grill using a spatula. Cut the sandwich diagonally into triangles and serve it hot. Enjoy your delicious and easy-to-make vegetable triple-decker sandwich!
