Butter chicken is almost a staple dish for most of us. When we cannot make up our minds about what kind of chicken gravy to prepare, we decide on butter chicken. But the word ‘butter’ keeps people away from this dish because of the negative health connotations attached to it. Most chicken butter masala recipes are loaded with oils and butter. So, we looked for ways in which you could prepare healthy butter chicken.

What you need for healthy Butter Chicken


  • 500 grams chicken (with or without bone)
  • For the marinade:
  • Red chilli powder
  • Ginger-garlic paste
  • Salt
  • 1 large bowl of curd
  • For the gravy
  • Cumin seeds
  • Red chilli powder
  • Green chillies
  • Salt
  • Sugar
  • 1/2 cup fresh cream
  • 500 grams tomato puree
  • Nutralite Classic table spread

Instructions

How to make healthy Butter Chicken


  1. Mix red chilli powder, ginger-garlic paste, salt and curd in a bowl. Now mix chicken pieces to marinate. Keep it in the refrigerator for at least 7 hours.
  2. Now, roast this marinated chicken in the oven for about 15 minutes.
  3. Next, heat two big chunks of the Nutralite table spread in a pan and add the tomato puree. Saute it for about 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Then add cumin seeds, green chillies and salt.
  5. Add the marinated chicken, more Nutralite table spread, fresh cream, green chillies and a little sugar, as per your taste. Let all these ingredients cook for about 5 to 8 minutes until the chicken is cooked well.
  6. Add a spoonful of the Nutralite table spread on the butter chicken curry, just before serving it hot.

Call it chicken butter masala or chicken makhani, this dish is tasty and versatile enough to be eaten with different side-dishes such as chapatis, tandoori rotis, rice or bread.
